Lansing Urgent Care - Okemos

Great provider. He listened to my concerns and assured me that all was well. This is a great place to have minor medical needs tended too if you cannot get into your regular PCP which seems like I can rarely do. However, yes, they do carry some prescription meds that a person would be able to purchase, as in if your pharmacy has closed for the nigh -- but a person will pay a premium price for this "service". I have insurance, if I go when my pharmacy can't fill it after hours, I'll wait. If they can bill my insurance company for a person's visit, why not bill their prescription insurance as well. This is greed as far as I am concerned and basically, preying on people who may not have the prescription insurance available. I do not want to pay $10.00 for one, ONE amoxicillin tablet. The whole prescription they would send to my pharmacy would cost less than that. I am glad this place and others like are available to us, but really -- does this company really need to make that much extra money on prescriptions? I don't think so, because they (as in the couple that owns it) also owns another pricey skin care company.

We had a fantastic experience at Lansing Urgent Care in Okemos. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately put me at ease. What really stood out was the listening skills of the medical team. They didn't just rush through the appointment; they took the time to hear our concerns and ideas, and asked thoughtful follow-up questions to get the full picture. Their communication was top-notch—they explained the diagnosis and treatment plan in a way that was clear and easy to understand, making sure we felt comfortable before we left. The entire process was impressively efficient. You can tell there is great teamwork happening behind the scenes; the hand-offs between the reception, nursing staff, and the provider were seamless. It’s clear they have a well-coordinated group that truly cares about their patients. I highly recommend this location for anyone needing quick, professional, and compassionate care!

Fine, friendly staff from receptionist, medical assistant to check me in, provider Cheryl Elfring, & Zac, who gave me the steroid shot in the hip. Was very happy to use their pharmacy right there for meds! Great idea! All this, because I was stung by a black wasp, Monday night at 7:30. Redness & swelling only getting worse. Went here at 1PM on Wednesday!!! Should not have waited so long! Today, is Friday at 2PM & swelling gone, & just a hint of redness! Was deep red & hot! ALLERGIC

I came in for viral bronchitis, a routine urgent care visit, and they billed it as a high-complexity outpatient visit (CPT 99204). My total ended up being almost $700 with tests. I already paid a $120 copay, and after insurance I STILL owed $285. I even filed an appeal and waited two months just to be told it was denied because I hadn’t met my deductible — fine. But the actual provider fee alone was $230 for what billing told me was a “standard visit.” That doesn’t add up. "CPT 99204 requires moderate–high complexity decision making or 45–59 minutes of provider time"… neither of which happened. This was a straightforward urgent care visit, which they just kept me waiting incredibly long for in between tests. What really bothered me is that I asked FOUR times before getting treated if things would be covered, even if I hadn’t met my deductible. I was reassured it would be because my copay was so high. That was not true. Being told one thing and then billed something completely different — especially when you’ve already expressed concerns about cost — is honestly just not okay. Frankly, its just cruel. Save your money and keep your faith in the healthcare system, don't come here.

I've been here twice and the front desk people were kind and helpful. The intake staff are great (todays was especially witty and kind) and I got prompt reasonable advice. Excellent people and service. Only complaint, if they read this, is the video monitor is on a loop which says get in get out get better, mildly disquieting when waiting.
